Dear Holy Friends,
I began the year thinking I was going to be ore faithful in posting my poetry. Then we found out my father had stage four cancer. many parts of 2011 passed in a blur of caring for him and my stepmom with her dementia. The poetry posting just didn't happen. This past Wednesday we had Daddy's memorial. The following is the poem I wrote and we had placed inside the cover of the bulletin. I shall try to post more poetry in the coming days and weeks.
In His Grip, Chandra
The sun rises, rains still come
the seasons change on time
People still go to work and school
and complain about standing in line.
All around us life continues
unaware it's not the same
while we try to find the new normal
like we're in some cruel game.
But he would have us remember
the laughter not the sad
He'd ask us to focus on good times
silly moments and not the bad.
So, we cry the tears and miss the man
and hold fast the memories
And tomorrow's sunrise will bring
remembrances of love and peace.
